Methodology & Licensing

Software development is both an art and a science. There are many software application development methodologies that are followed today, and each of them have specific merits with supporters and critics. Prefix’s senior programming team has a strong academic background, and has deployed various methodologies over the years. The result is a key set of principles that all methodologies embrace, along with a suite of supporting tools that create trust between ourselves and our customers.

We develop primarily on what is now known as the W/LAMP stack (Windows or Linux with Apache, PHP and mySQL) along with increasingly heavy use of AJAX to create a rich user experience. These (mainly) open-source technologies and concepts allow us to rely on a set of open standards and ensure affordable deployment options.

All code is managed within a central CVS repository and developers follow a set of coding standards that ensures we have continuity within our product lines.

Prefix Technologies believes strongly in the principles of open-source and makes use of a number of open-source tools and components. Customers have access to the full source code of Prefix products under a “developer license” for customization and integration into enterprise environments).
